In cryptography, X.509 is a certificate management protocol for a public key
infrastructure (PKI). Defined in RFC
4210, X.509 specifies standard formats for public key certificates,
certificate revocation lists and a certification path validation algorithm.

X12 is a Standards Development Organization
(SDO) for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). Founded in 1979, and ANSI
